Chinati Weekend

In October 1987, Donald Judd began the tradition of Chinati Weekend by inviting friends and colleagues from the local community and around the world to Chinati for a weekend of open viewing, special exhibitions, talks, music, and meals, all offered free to the public. Since then, Chinati Weekend has grown to be an essential part of Chinati’s programming and a much-anticipated cultural event for the entire West Texas region.

Saturday night’s Benefit Dinner provides the crucial funding for Chinati’s essential work: preserving and providing access to its permanent collection, organizing and presenting excellent exhibitions, supporting new scholarship, and hosting artists-in-residence.
