Development Internship

Chinatiís development department is responsible for raising a significant part of the museumís budget through contributions, memberships and grants. This internship is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates or early-career professionals who are interested in learning more about the fundraising process, from cultivation to stewardship.

The Chinati development intern:

  • supports the work of the entire department by helping to maintain our database and filing system, conducting research projects and managing our mailings.
  • prepares the assembly of proposals and grant applications to government, corporate and foundation prospects.
  • assists with the coordination of a variety of museum-related and private events.

All candidates:

  • should have a genuine interest in learning about museum fundraising.
  • must be highly organized and have excellent writing and research skills.
  • should possess a B.A. or M.A. and a minimum of one year experience in the development field.

The development internship typically lasts six months. An average work week is 40 hours and occasional evening or weekend time may be required for special events. As compensation, interns are given a modest stipend of $100 per week, a furnished apartment on the Chinati grounds, and travel to and from the El Paso or Midland/Odessa airports upon arrival and departure.

Development internships are offered in the fall and spring, from August through January and February through July respectively. Applications will be accepted by email only.

We are currently accepting applications the Fall (August 2019 through January 2020 ) internship. Applications for the Spring rotation (February through July 2020) will also be accepted.
