August 1, 2025 | Open Studio and Reading by Guadalupe Rosales
Join us Friday, August 1, for an open studio and reading by Guadalupe Rosales, Chinati’s current artist in residence.
Rosales is a multidisciplinary artist and educator best known for her community-generated, social media-based archival projects, including Veteranas and Rucas and Map Pointz.
Rosales conceived of the archives in 2015 as a means to combat the under/misrepresentation and historical erasure of Latin@/x communities in Southern California. They began with an open invitation to share personal images and memories that create visual narratives celebrating identities and historicizing subcultures. Today, the accounts have amassed an audience of over 300,000 followers and continue to reframe and celebrate the past through image and text.
At the open studio event, Rosales will present a selection of archival materials and read from her upcoming book, to be published by One World Books in June 2026, which documents both her personal and communal artistic practices.
