Ch’íná’itíh (Chinati) Intertribal Noise Symposium
The Ch’íná’itíh (Chinati) Intertribal Noise Symposium, co-presented by Nathan Young, the Chinati Foundation, and Atomic Culture, will take place Friday, March 14 through Sunday, March 16, 2025 at the Chinati Foundation, the Pony, and Crowley Theater in Marfa, Texas. The symposium’s format will integrate performances, a conversation between Candice Hopkins (Carcross/Tagish First Nation) and Nathan Young (Delaware, Kiowa, and Pawnee), and listening sessions, with a central focus on exploring Native American sonic agency and the broader implications of sound and resistance in art and culture. It will feature interdisciplinary collaborations between artists, scholars, and community members, emphasizing the critical engagement of Native and diasporic voices in contemporary art.
