Chinati Summer 2012 Art Class Closing Party
Dye Projects, Potato Sack Races, and Vegetable Sushi Rolls
Everyone’s invited to a family-friendly garden party celebrating the wrap-up of Chinati’s summer art program for area students on Friday, August 10, 2012 from 5 – 7:00 PM. The event takes place outdoors, next to the Arena.
Stop by and see the hand-dyed quilt made by 2nd – 4th grade students using spinach, red cabbage, indigo, and cochineal dyes. Staff and students will demonstrate the hand-dye techniques learned during classes and kids and adults alike can make their own t-shirts and fabric art.
Visitors can tour the museum garden that students have been planting, tending, and harvesting this summer and sample hand-rolled vegetable sushi made by 5 – 8th graders with cucumbers, carrots, and lettuce from the garden.
Potato sack races (a favorite of students during this year’s classes) will be held and fresh-squeezed lemonade, home-made ice cream, and chocolate zucchini cake will be served.
The event is free and open to the public. For more information contact the museum at 432 729 4362 or information@chinati.org
