Monika Sosnowska
Monika Sosnowska was a Chinati artist in residence in April and May 2015.
Sosnowska was born in Poland and lives and works in Warsaw. She studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznan and the Rijksakademie in Amsterdam. A recent work, Tower, exhibited in fall 2014 at Hauser and Wirth in New York, is a 110-foot long, twisted and open-structured, black steel sculpture that was modeled after the framework for Mies van der Rohe’s Lake Shore Drive apartment building in Chicago.
Sosnowska’s solo exhibitions include Serralves Foundation, Porto, Portugal (2015); Maison Hermes Ginza, Tokyo (2015); Schaulager, Basel; Market, Perez Art Museum, Miami, FL (2013); Aspen Art Museum, Aspen, CO (2013); and Regional Modernities, Australian Center for Contemporary Art, Melbourne, Australia (2013). In 2007, Sosnowska represented Poland at the 52nd Venice Biennale.
