Community Day 2009

Community Day 2009

The Chinati Foundation is delighted to invite all Big Bend area residents and visitors to a Community Day celebration on Sunday, May 17, 2009 from 10am-2pm. All activities, including a free brunch and family art activities will take place on the museum grounds and are free of charge. Everyone is welcome.

On Community Day, Chinati offers visitors the chance to explore the Chamberlain Building, Donald Judd’s concrete and aluminum sculptures and Dan Flavin’s evocative light installations at their own pace while chatting with staff and other residents of the tri-county region. A free brunch catered by Lopez Kitchen will be served all day in the Arena by Chinati staff and local volunteers, with lots of delicious food and beverages prepared and donated by area businesses. Also in the Arena, Chinati Education staff will lead creative art projects for visitors of all ages to join in. Participants can make masks, hanging planters and help create a giant, free-standing map of Marfa.

Community Day is kindly sponsored by Jessie and Daniel Browning/Tumbleweed Laundry, Janie and Dick DeGuerin, Dennis Dickinson/Exhibitions 2D, Jeanette and Rand Elliott, Hamilton Fish and Sandra Harper, Charles Mary Kubricht and Ron Sommers, Betty MacGuire, Kate McKenna and Pete Szilagyi, and Tom Rapp and Toshi Fumi Sakihara/Cochineal.
