Chinati Presents: Douglas Crimp at the Crowley Theater

Historian, curator and critic Douglas Crimp will read from his new memoir Before Pictures at the Crowley Theater in Marfa on Sunday, November 6.  The reading begins at 8pm and is free to the public.  This event is part of the museum’s ongoing Chinati Presents series.

Douglas Crimp’s publications include On the Museum’s Ruins, 1993; Melancholia and Moralism: Essays on AIDS and Queer Politics, 2002; and “Our Kind of Movie”: The Films of Andy Warhol, 2012. He was the curator of Pictures, an exhibition at Artists Space, New York, in 1977 and, from 1977 to 1990, Crimp was an editor of the journal October. With Lynne Cooke, he organized the exhibition Mixed Use, Manhattan, Reina Sofía, Madrid in 2010, and was on the curatorial team for MoMA PS1’s Greater New York, 2015. His new book, Before Pictures, is co-published by Dancing Foxes Press and the University of Chicago Press. Douglas Crimp is the Fanny Knapp Professor of Art History at the University of Rochester.
