Trine Ellitsgaard

This 2003 exhibition included large weavings made from dyed wool and sisal installed in the museum’s Arena, and smaller works in silk and other materials, which were shown in a more intimate exhibition space at the museum.

Ellitsgaard has been making hand-loomed textiles for the past 20 years. Her large carpets and tapestries combine rich colors with bold geometric patterns that result in striking and subtle compositions. Ellitsgaard’s work has been shown in the United States, Europe, and Mexico, most recently at the Oaxaca Museum of Contemporary Art. Textileswas Ellitsgaard’s premiere solo show in the United States. Ellitsgaard was born in Denmark where she studied with master weaver Vibeke Klint and at the Copenhagen School of Arts and Crafts. Currently she lives and works in Oaxaca, Mexico.
