Free Summer Art Classes for Area Students
Chinati’s annual summer art program for students ages 5 – 13 takes place Mondays through Fridays, July 15 – 19 and 22 – 26, 2013 from 10:00 AM – 12:00 noon.
Ages 5 – 8, See it, Make it!
Students ages 5 – 8 will paint, draw, sculpt, and collage based on what they see, hear, taste, smell and touch: objects in the museum’s collection, traditional art made by ancient cultures, and plants being cultivated in the garden and growing wild in the landscape. A variety of styles, craft techniques, and historical objects will be introduced.
Ages 9 – 13, Animation Workshop
Students ages 9 – 13 will work with local filmmakers David Hollander and Jennifer Lane in a direct animation workshop. Students will watch films, learn basics of projection equipment, and create abstract films of their own using permanent markers on 16 mm film stock. Student films will be shown at a final class party on the last day of the program.
