I Dig Soil: Free Soil and Ecology Adult Workshop-December 3, 2016
Bring your shovel and join the Chinati Foundation for a free hands-on soil and ecology workshop, set for Saturday, December 3. Members of the local USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service team will excavate and examine soil samples from three unique sites on Chinati’s 340 acres. Participants will learn about the formation, nature and classification of the earth under our feet.
This free workshop includes presentations by Dr. Lynn Loomis and NRCS soil science experts, plus fieldwork, identification and insight into the fascinating process of how our soil has arrived to its current state. The workshop begins promptly at 8:30 am and ends around 1:00 pm. Arrive early for coffee and donuts. There will be a midday break with lunch provided. Participants should wear long pants and sturdy shoes and be ready to dig deep into the world of soil!
Advanced registration is appreciated. Contact Adele Powers at apowers@chinati.org for questions or to sign up.
