January Family Day, 2022
Welcome in the new year with a day of family friendly art making at the Chinati Foundation! Join our educators on Saturday, January 29th, from 9am to 12pm, for a free Chinati sketch crawl.
We will begin the day by making our own accordion sketchbooks and travel watercolor kits. Putting our creations to immediate use, we will embark on an artistic expedition of the Chinati Foundation, drawing and painting at several sites: the Arena, Claes Oldenburg and Coosje van Bruggen’s Monument to the Last Horse, Donald Judd’s unfinished concrete buildings, and Dan Flavin’s untitled (Marfa project).
This workshop is free to all families. All ages are welcome; however, please keep in mind that this workshop entails a fair amount of walking on uneven terrain. Closed-toe walking shoes and a sunhat are recommended.
Light snacks and water will be provided to participants.
Covid safety protocols will be observed. Masks required.
Enrollment is limited to 20 participants. To sign up, please email Emma Ryan at education@chinati.org. In your email, please include your name, the number of guests in your party, and the ages of each child participating.
