The Chinati Foundation invites you to the opening of Marfa Moments, an exhibition of photography by Marfa Independent School District high school students on Friday, May 2. From 5:00–6:30 pm, visit the exhibition at the Marfa Public Library, meet the student artists, and enjoy hotdogs and a piñata. Free and open to all.
Marfa Moments is the latest engagement in a long-standing collaboration between the Chinati Foundation’s education department and Marfa ISD (MISD). Throughout February and March, Chinati educators collaborated with MISD instructors to teach a photography curriculum that included cyanotypes, pinhole photography, photograms, and polaroid portraiture, as well as construct a permanent dark room at the school. Marfa Moments features work from over 50 students who participated in the 6th grade art class, Art I, and Advanced Art.

Chinati’s educational and public programming is generously supported by the Prentice Farrar & Alline Ford Brown Foundation, the Cowles Charitable Trust, the Carl B. & Florence E. King Foundation, the Warren Skaaren Charitable Trust, the Texas Commission on the Arts, the Union Pacific Foundation, the Permian Basin Area Foundation, and the George & Mary Josephine Hamman Foundation. Chinati is also grateful to our members and the people of Marfa and Far West Texas for their generous and in-kind contributions.
Many thanks to Marfa ISD, Ms. Adele Powers, Michael Roch, and the other instructors.
