Tamar Zohara Ettun’s performative lecture presents work she developed while an Artist in Residence at Chinati. Drawing on wide-ranging research and personal experience, Ettun addresses the dark side of empathy, processes of healing and compassion fatigue in the midst of a global pandemic. She conjures her empathic demon Lilit, whose origins are in Jewish tradition, and screens a new video set in the Arena. The online event ends with a participatory meditation based on Yvonne Rainer’s Hand Film (1966).
