Screen Printing Adult Workshop, February 4-5, 2017

The Chinati Foundation will offer a screen printing workshop and studio February 4-5, 2017, with returning instructors Josh Chalmers and Abi Daniel of Austin’s Bearded Lady Studio. Chalmers and Daniel will oversee this process-based, hands-on workshop intended for adults.

While screen printing is often associated with making multiple prints and large-scale runs, this workshop focuses on the creation of individual, one-of-a-kind works. Participants will be encouraged to use, reuse and manipulate multiple screens, share images and screens with peers, incorporate collage, hand embellishment, use outside imagery and play with scale, patterns and text. Traditionally, the goal of screen printing is simply to produce a print. With this workshop, the goal is to use screen printing to explore artistic process and embrace the unexpected.

The workshop runs from 9am to 4pm February 4-5, with open studio hours the following Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
