Flamenco Returns to Far West Texas June 12 – 17th

The Chinati Foundation is pleased to host the return of Entreflamenco, the international dance company headed by Antonio Granjero and Estefenia Ramirez, for a weeklong residency in Marfa beginning June 12. All events are free and open to the public.

L.A. Dance Project: Live Streaming from the Chinati Foundation

The Chinati Foundation is pleased to host Marfa Dance Episodes, a series of performances by L.A. Dance Project conceived and performed in response to Chinati's collection and streamed live on the web. The performances will take place on Saturday, May 27, Sunday, May 28, and Monday, May 29. Each day's performance will begin at 2:00 PM (Central Time) / 9:00 PM (CEST, GMT +2) and be streamed live on the video platform Periscope and on this page.

Chinati Presents: L.A. Dance Project at the Chinati Foundation

Everyone is invited to a Community Open Rehearsal with L.A. Dance Project performing works from Marfa Dance Episodes. The rehearsal will take place on Friday, May 26, 2017 at 2pm in the Arena.

Master Plan Symposium: Live Streaming from Marfa

Chinati Hosts free Community Day and Symposium on its New Master Plan

On Saturday, April 29, Chinati will host its annual Community Day with open viewing of selected works in the collection and a free barbecue dinner, live music, and a student art exhibition. This year’s program will also feature the second in a two-part symposium (the first will be held at the Museum of Modern Art in New York) the museum is hosting to present its new master plan.

Kika Karadi: Open Studio at Locker Plant

Artist Kika Karadi is in residence at Chinati in March and April, working at the Locker Plant in downtown Marfa. Karadi will open the studio and share her work with the community on Thursday, April 27 from 6:00 until 9:00 PM. All are welcome.

Sunset at Chinati

The Chinati Foundation invites everyone to a special sunset viewing of Donald Judd’s 100 works in mill aluminum and 15 freestanding works in concrete as well as Robert Irwin’s untitled (dawn to dusk) from 5 to 6:30pm on Sunday, February 19, 2017. The works will be available for self-guided viewing.

Jay Haikes: Open Studio at the Locker Plant

Artist Jay Heikes is in residence at Chinati for the months of January and February 2017, working at the Locker Plant in downtown Marfa. Heikes will open the studio and share his work with the community on Saturday, February 18 from noon until 5pm. Everyone is invited.

The Chinati Foundation invites everyone to a special early morning viewing of Donald Judd’s 100 works in mill aluminum and 15 freestanding works in concrete as well as Robert Irwin’s untitled (dawn to dusk) on Sunday, February 19 from 7:30–9:30am.

Katherine Hubbard: Reading at the Concrete Buildings

On Thursday, December 29, at 4pm, the Chinati Foundation will present a reading by artist in residence Katherine Hubbard of her U shaped house at Donald Judd’s concrete buildings. Everyone is invited.

Chinati Master Plan Community Forum

The public is invited to a community forum about Chinati's master planning process on December 6, 2016, at 6pm in the USO Building in Marfa. Staff from Chinati and representatives from Sasaki will discuss the master plan initiative and then open the floor to questions. Everyone is invited.
