Solange Knowles Ferguson at Chinati

The Chinati Foundation is pleased to announce a performance by Solange Knowles Ferguson on Sunday afternoon, October 8, 2017. Part of this year’s Chinati Weekend programming, the performance will begin at 5:00 PM on museum grounds in the field where Donald Judd’s 15 untitled works in concrete are sited. The event is free and everyone is welcome.

Live Streaming: Richard Shiff on Bridget Riley

On Saturday afternoon at the Crowley Theater, Richard Shiff, Effie Marie Cain Regents Chair in Art at The University of Texas at Austin, will discuss the work of Bridget Riley. His talk begins at 3:30 PM. If you can't make it to Marfa for Chinati Weekend, the museum will stream Shiff's talk live from this page beginning at 3:30 PM CST on Saturday, October 7.

Rosy Keyser: Recent and Sketchy

During Chinati Weekend, the museum will host Recent and Sketchy, a viewing of new work by Artist in Residence Rosy Keyser, on Friday, October 6 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Locker Plant in downtown Marfa. Keyser will show works in progress made during her residency.

Chinati Weekend 2017: Made in Marfa is Friday, October 6

Made in Marfa, an annual citywide showcase of local, creative talent, will take place on Friday, October 6, 2017, as part of Chinati Weekend. Organized by the Chinati Foundation, Made in Marfa brings together a wide range of venues, each presenting individual events at locations throughout Marfa. Artists, shops, galleries, and other businesses will participate with open studios, live music, food and drinks, and exhibition openings. The event begins at 5:00 PM.

Chinati Weekend 2017: Talks and Film

Please join us for Chinati Weekend, Friday, October 6 – Sunday, October 8, 2017. The museum will host a film and talks over the weekend, open to the public and free of charge.

The Chinati Foundation invites everyone to a special early morning viewing of Donald Judd’s 100 works in mill aluminum and 15 freestanding works in concrete as well as Robert Irwin’s untitled (dawn to dusk) on Sunday, September 3 from 7:30–9am.

Chinati Announces a Large-Scale New Wall Painting by Bridget Riley Opening in October

In October 2017 the Chinati Foundation will inaugurate a large new multicolored wall painting by Bridget Riley. The artwork has been conceived specifically for the museum’s special exhibition building and will encompass the entire U-shaped enclosure. The work will debut during Chinati Weekend, October 6 through 8, and remain on view through 2019.

Everyone is invited to Chinati Weekend 2017, Friday through Sunday, October 6–8. Highlights will include the opening of a new wall painting by Bridget Riley in the museum’s special exhibition building and a Sunday performance by Solange at Donald Judd's 15 untitled works in concrete. There will be open viewing of the permanent collection throughout the weekend and all programs are free of charge.

Pronghorn Field Day at Chinati-July 15, 2017

The Chinati Foundation is pleased to host Sul Ross State University’s Borderlands Research Institute for a Pronghorn Field Day on Saturday, July 15. This free workshop includes two lectures and two hands-on demonstrations from field scientists working with the Trans-Pecos Pronghorn Restoration Project. Through translocations, habitat improvements and predator management, this group works to bolster pronghorn populations that have reached historic lows.

Marfa ISD and Chinati present Making a Museum Summer Shake-Up 2017
