Chinati Summer Shake-Up 2018 Video Release
This year's Summer Shake Up was a spectacular success, with students exploring light, color systems and film. Students pre-K through 8th grade were encouraged to sink deep into Chinati's works by Dan Flavin and Robert Irwin, moving deliberately and thoughtfully through these installations.
Chinati Presents Richard Maxwell's Ode to the Man Who Kneels
On Saturday, August 4 and Sunday, August 5, 2018, the Chinati Foundation will present two performances of current artist in residence Richard Maxwell's musical theater work Ode to the Man Who Kneels at 8:30 PM on the main museum grounds.
Chinati Weekend: Friday–Sunday, October 5–7, 2018
Everyone is invited to Chinati Weekend 2018, Friday – Sunday, October 5 – 7. This year, we’re proud to announce that the great songwriter and musician Rosanne Cash will perform a free concert in downtown Marfa on Saturday night. Acclaimed playwright Richard Maxwell will present a performance work during the weekend as a culmination of his summer residency at Chinati. And we will continue to celebrate the extraordinary wall painting by Bridget Riley, encompassing the entirety of the special exhibition gallery, that was inaugurated last year.
Artist in Residence Open Studio: Yevgeniya Baras: The Day is Long
The Chinati Foundation artist-in-residence, Yevgeniya Baras will host an open studio and exhibition, The Day is Long, on July 5 and July 6, 2018. Join us from 6 - 8pm on Thursday evening and from 11am - 3pm on Friday at the Locker Plant on East Oak Street. On view will be work that Baras has made during her stay in Marfa in May and June. Everyone is invited.

Marfa ISD and Chinati Present Light and Space Summer Shake Up 2018!
All pre-k through 8th grade students are invited to play with light, shadow, pigment and film during this year’s light and space-themed Summer Shake Up! Partnering with Marfa ISD, Chinati’s annual summer art classes begin May 29 and run through June 28.
Chinati Community Day 2018
The Chinati Foundation invites everyone to our annual Community Day celebration on Saturday, April 21, 2018. The day’s schedule includes film screenings at Crowley Theater, open viewing of the Chinati Foundation permanent collection and a community dinner at the Arena. All events are free and everyone is welcome.

In partnership with Ballroom Marfa and Mexican Summer, the Chinati Foundation will host five-time Grammy award nominated composer Suzanne Ciani in the Arena at 12:00 PM on Saturday, April 14, 2018 for Marfa Myths.
Conservation Treatment of John Chamberlain's Roxanne Loup, 1979
The images presented here demonstrate the general treatment model for Chinati's collection of John Chamberlain sculptures. John Chamberlain created Roxanne Loup in 1979 in his characteristic collage technique, with scrap material he formed, fitted, and held together by quick tack-welds. Before executing the stabilization repair in March 2018, thorough archival research was done to understand how it evolved over 40 years into its present condition.
