Frances Scholz Open Studio and Film Screening
Chinati will host an open studio for Artist in Residence Frances Scholz on Saturday, September 17th from 6 to 8pm at the Locker Plant in downtown Marfa.
Following the open studio, Scholz will screen her film Amboy at 8pm at the Crowley Theater. Both events are free and open to public.
Sunset at Chinati
The Chinati Foundation invites everyone to a special early morning viewing of Donald Judd’s 100 works in mill aluminum and 15 freestanding works in concrete as well as Robert Irwin’s untitled (dawn to dusk) on Sunday, February 19 from 7:30–9:30am.
Chamberlain Building Construction
This series of images documents the restoration and adaptation of the former Marfa Wool & Mohair Company building in downtown Marfa, where twenty-two sculptures by John Chamberlain were permanently installed.

Robert Irwin Untitled (dawn to dusk) opening
On Saturday, July 23, 2016, from dawn to dusk, the Chinati Foundation/La Fundación Chinati will open a new large-scale artwork by Robert Irwin. Sixteen years in the planning, this long- awaited installation further elaborates Donald Judd’s vision of Chinati as a singular place for contemporary art.
On July 23 and 24, 2016, the Chinati Foundation will celebrate the opening of a new permanent artwork by Robert Irwin at the former site of the Fort D.A. Russell hospital. Chinati will host a weekend filled with events to mark this significant occasion including a full day of open viewing of the Robert Irwin installation, self-guided viewing of Chinati’s collection, a conversation about the artist’s work and a Community BBQ dinner. All are invited to join the festivities!
Young Artists of Chinati Present Summer Shake-up 2016
Please join us Saturday July 2, from 6:30PM – 8:30PM for this year’s Summer Shake-Up artist reception. Participants in Chinati’s 3-D class will see their work displayed in the Arena. Come hungry! Hotdogs, cookies, and soda will be served.
Entreflamenco
The flamenco dance troupe, Entreflamenco, from Santa Fe, returns to Chinati this summer! Entreflamenco principle dancers Antonio Granjero and Estefania Ramirez will lead students in percussion and dance classes as part of the museum’s collaboration with Marfa ISD’s Camp Summer Shake-Up June 20 – 23.

The Chinati Foundation is pleased to host the return of Entreflamenco, the international dance company headed by Antonio Granjero and Estefenia Ramirez, for a weeklong residency in Marfa beginning Monday, June 20th.
Uri Aran: Film Screening at the Crowley Theater, May 24, 2016
A selection of film works by Chinati Artist in Residence Uri Aran will be screened at the Crowley Theater on Tuesday, May 24 at 7:00 PM. This event is free and open the the public.
Artillery sheds roof repair
With the wholesale restoration of the artillery sheds still some years away, Chinati has implemented an annual maintenance program for the buildings' gutters. This work keeps up to date an extensive cleaning and recoating treatment that was performed over the summer of 2016. The work is done every spring by museum staff using materials and methods spelled out by the team that designed the re-coating system.
Chinati announces team for Master Plan, Grant from Andrew W. Mellon Foundation
The Chinati Foundation is pleased to announce that it has chosen the firm of Sasaki to partner with the museum on the creation of a master plan. The plan will provide a framework for the conservation, restoration, maintenance, and development of the entire Chinati site.
