Sunrise at Chinati

Experience Donald Judd’s 100 works in mill aluminum and 15 outdoor works in concrete at daybreak. Free admission for museum members and tri-county area residents.

Seeing Poetry, a Collaboration with Marfa High School

Using Carl Andre’s permanent installation at Chinati as an entry point, area 9th graders will spend three weeks in September 2015 reading and studying poetry and creating their own poems and artwork as part of Marfa High School"s English curriculum.

Chinati Presents: Unset

Chinati will host the premiere of Unset, a site-specific musical performance created by composer Andrew May, on Saturday, August 1, 2015 at 8:00 pm. The piece will be performed among Donald Judd’s 15 untitled works in concrete, inviting listeners to focus their attention on the resonant interiors of the works.

Larry Bell Exhibition Closing

6x6 an improvisation, Chinati"s special exhibition by Larry Bell, closes Sunday, July 26, 2015. Chinati will offer open viewing hours on the final weekend of the exhibition. Please join us Saturday, July 25 and Sunday, July 26 from 2 - 4:00 pm.

Jennifer Paige Cohen: Open Studio at the Locker Plant

Jennifer Paige Cohen, Chinati Foundation’s artist in residence for the months of June and July, will share her work with the community at an open studio on Friday, July 24 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the Locker Plant in downtown Marfa.

Entreflamenco at Chinati

Chinati hosts international dance company Entreflamenco for a production of Spanish music and dance at the Crowley Theater on Saturday, June 20. The performance begins at 7 pm and is free and open to the public. The company will offer a free demonstration for all ages at the USO building the evening prior, Friday, June 19 from 6:30 – 7 pm.

Free Summer Art Classes at Chinati, in Collaboration with Marfa ISD

Area students can look forward to plenty of opportunities for fun once school is out at this year’s Camp Summer Shake-Up, offered by Marfa ISD with Chinati and other community partner organizations June 3 - July 9.

John Newman: Open Studio

Artist John Newman has been in residence at Chinati for the months of March, April and May, working at the Locker Plant in downtown Marfa. Newman will open the studio and share his work with the community on Thursday, May 21 from 6 – 8.

Adult Art Classes at Chinati-May 2-14, 2022

The Chinati Foundation will host artist Ross Cashiola for a two-day workshop for adults on Saturday and Sunday, May 2 and 3, 2015. The class takes place at the Chinati ArtLab, located on the museum grounds, from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm each day. Evening classes will continue for two weeks on Tuesdays and Thursdays, May 5, 7, 12 and 14 from 5:30 – 7:00 PM.

Community Day 2015

Chinati’s annual Community Day celebration this year features an exhibition of screenprinted poems by area high school students and a public reading of their work in the Arena. The program also includes self-guided viewings, a talk on Larry Bell’s special exhibition, and a community reception in the Arena courtyard. All events are free and open to the public.
