Art as Process

Summer Shake Up, 2020

What is process? How do artists develop a process of making art? How does process influence what we make and how we make it? How do everyday engagements with the world around us influence our artistic process?

Art as Process is largely built around students keeping a process notebook, in which to record their studies, experiences, and artworks.

Tackling process from several angles, this curriculum is scaffolded into four, week-long investigations: The Process of Seeing, The Process of Listening, The Process of Exploring, and The Process of Making. Through these projects, students uncover their own artistic process, while simultaneously finding meaning in their everyday lives and homes.

Art as Process projects are available in Spanish and English.
